KARYA began as an architecture student-led collective in 2007 to explore, experiment and extend their architectural knowledge beyond the classrooms. The group engaged in a wide range of projects—architectural events, installations, and design excursions—driven by ingenuity, curiosity, and invention.
In 2014, the collective evolved into studiokarya, a streamlined practice focused on commissioned architectural work. Currently led by partners Ashran Bahari and Naadiya Hani, the studio operates at the intersection of architecture, research, and cultural production. While the practice is particularly attuned to smaller-scale projects, it remains open to larger opportunities and does not distinguish between the urgency of built work and that of theoretical or speculative nature.
Alongside their publishing and curatorial platform, Suburbia Projects, Ashran and Naadiya actively foster broader architectural discourse; championing values, context, and sensibility within a field often driven by aesthetics alone. Positioned as both a design studio and an architectural platform, studiokarya produces work that is thoughtful, rigorous, and critically engaged.
